 Ciaran  Phelan BA Mgmt - Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Ciaran Phelan took up his position as Director of Financial Services with the Irish Brokers Assoication in May 2008 and was announced as Chief Executive Officer in May 2009.
In his new role Ciaran will be responsible for the enhancement of the public profile of the Irish Brokers Association and the development of life services within the organisation.

Ciaran has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry, having previously held the roles of Director of Broker Sales at Canada Life and Head of Indirect Sales at vodafone. Ciaran also holds a BA in Management.

Brian McNelis joined IBA as Director of General Services in April 2007. Brian has spent the last 35 years working in the General Insurance Industry with Hibernian Group. Brian began his career as an underwriter and continued at various management levels in Broker Sales and Development. Brian’s market and industry experience will undoubtedly enable him to assist IBA members from a compliance and practical level.

Brian sits on the Financial Regulator's Consultative Industry Panel and the board of the PSAB-GI.

 Elaine Maher joined the IBA in October 2006 having completed a BSc in Marketing Mgmt and a MSc in Strategic Mgmt.  Since joining the Assoication Elaine has completed the CIP diploma and is currently working towards the QFA qualification. 

Elaine looks after the online CPD facility for members, events management and is part of the Young IBA committee. Elaine is at hand to help all members with day to day compliance queries and sits on the editorial committee for the Irish Broker magazine.

Hazel Rock joined the Association in April 2007 having completed a BSc Mgmt and MSc in Strategic Mgmt alongside Elaine.  Hazel is currently studying for QFA exams.

Hazel is responsible for the new website and ensures that all data is kept up to date on a daily basis. Hazel also deals with members and public queries and is responsible for general office management within the Association.

Patrick joined the Association in March 2008 and has sole responsibility for the finances of the Association. In addition to his finance role, Patrick looks after the area of member cost saving schemes and business development initiatives for members.
