About us - A brief history of the Association
The Irish Brokers Association was formed in 1990 following a merger of NIIBA (National Insurance and Investment Brokers Association) and CIBI (Corporation of Insurance Brokers in Ireland).
Irish Brokers Association member companies comprise international firms, as well as large, medium and small national businesses who employ over 5,500 people throughout Ireland and provide independent service and choice to consumers in relation to life, pensions, investment, mortgage and general insurance products. The Irish Brokers Association is the premier professional body of Insurance Brokers in Ireland and represents over 700 insurance intermediary offices who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Regulator. The Association is active at an international level through BIPAR (Bureau International des Producteurs d’Assurances et de Reassurances), a European representative body for insurance brokers, and the Association is also a member of the Worldwide Federation of Insurance Intermediaries (WFII) which has its headquarters in Brussels.
