Function of the Irish Brokers Association

The Irish Brokers Association is the premier representative body for Insurance brokers in Ireland.  The Association represents over 500 broker firms which provide employment to over 5,500 people around Ireland. 

All members firms are regulated by the Financial Regulator and adhere to strict regulations such as the Consumer Protection Code.  Member firms are the primary distribution channel for general insurance in Ireland with 70 % of the market.  Members also provide over 50% of Financial Services business in Ireland ranging across a broad spectrum of products such as pensions, mortgages and investments.  All member offices and their staff embrace strict standards of conduct, professionalism and practice to ensure that high standards of service are delivered to all clients.

All member firms have Professional Indemnity insurance of a minimum of €1.5million.  As well as the statutory protection from the Investor Compensation Company Ltd, all Irish Brokers’ association members are bonded by the IBA compensation fund.
